Hands down the best restaurant in Joburg.

Tim and his team have created a completely immersive experience that makes you feel you've stepped out of the hustle and bustle of the city! You will not be disappointed.

We would immediately advocate for this restaurant to be added to the Hidden Gems collection, except.then it wouldn't stay a hidden gem for long! Fabulous wine pairing set menu, with generous but not overbearing portions of food. Tim, the co-owner, was sommelier on the night and his knowledge and choice of boutique wines was a delight and added to the experience on the night. We'll be back, both for another dare night and for small group functions!

Okay so....

*Ambience*: very intimate setting. I think the restaurant seats 20 people max. There are 2 seating options: the counter or the banquette (the long couch situation). Definitely opt for the latter. Booking is essential (specify seating when you book).
It’s super warm and comfortable. Upmarket without being pretentious.

*Menu*: so the menu is European flair with local and seasonal ingredients. The menu options are 3 course or 5 course (2 starters and 2 mains). With (R550/R850) or without (R450/R650) wine pairing. There’s also a vegetarian option if that’s your kind of thing. Oh then there’s a complementary amuse bouche and palette cleanser.
Standout dishes are: 1. Squid ink risotto starter (perfect). 2. The spiced lamb rack (yeyi!). You can’t go wrong with dessert. The malva is not your average malva, they really elevated it whilst being true to tradition. The sorbet dessert had so many fresh, tart, rich and creamy elements to it, so good! I can’t stress how good that food is overall!

*Drinks*: boutique wines and bubbles. 60% female owned wineries. Very good. Unusual varietals. Reasonably priced as far as wine lists go.

*Service*: attentive without being overwhelming. The sommelier is very knowledgeable and friendly. Small service team than can more than handle the space.

*Vibe*: it’s definitely a dinner vibe. I think the daytime menu is literally just antipasti and wines. The music selection is easily listening soul and R&B and thankfully very much in the BACKGROUND. It’s super dope. I’ll definitely be back.
